PT

EN

Shortly after his last release, George Silver gives us yet another EP this time split between Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro, more accurately between Rua da Recosta and Rua dos Funkeiros in an on-going mental transatlantic shuttle boat.
In “Coisa Ruim”- his sixth solo release- he keeps the rhythm focused approach of “Selvagem” but with an urban touch to the jungle.

In the opening track “O que é que eu bebi?” we listen to a lecture by a drunken gentleman while the speakers deliver a funk carioca infused beat mashed with euphoric synthesizer lines, getting us ready for “Vanessa Atalanta”, a collaboration with Puçanga where the tribal beats and deep basses go a bit slower in bpm and the voices change in-between sweet chants and punk screams washing in a sea of delay, flooding this track with a dubby yet dance oriented vibe that somewhat contrasts with the acid bassline that keeps coming up until the end of the song.

“Quero café” celebrates the hyperactivity of baile funk while paying homage to footworks' harmonic construction in a 3 minute block party that builds up tension to be released in “Duas Rodas”. The ambient moment of the record introduces a sound palette of bicycle chains and other city sounds where a keyboard solo (taken from one live performance) has a dialogue with the sound effects.

“S.O.S BPM”, another track taken from a live concert- this time at Damas in Lisbon- closes the EP with an over the top energy level, an arsenal of party references and Georges' own sharpen speech to remind us that because life is going on we can't forget to have fun.
